We invite you to join the exclusive TIME TRAVEL, in an extraordinary complex of residential buildings from the Roman age, located near the Colosseum and founded at the beginning of the 5th century by Senator Pammachius. This is the only way you have, to see a typical ancient Roman banquet prepared in a Domus of 2000 years ago: you will be fascinated by its charm, refinement and sumptuousness. The archaeological complex excavated beneath a church, is composed of more than twenty rooms, some of which were richly decorated with paintings dating back to a period going from the 3rd to the 12th century. The sequence of decorated rooms and the stratified structures visible in the foundations of the church, reveal aspects of the Roman daily life and show an interesting blend of cultural themes. During the centuries, these buildings were used for different purposes: an apartment block for artisans, a wealthy domus and then an early Christian church. According to tradition, they were also the dwelling of John and Paul, officers at the court of the Emperor Constantine (312-37), both of whom, having suffered martyrdom by execution during the reign of Julian the Apostate (361-363), were buried on the site of their own house. During the 3rd century A.D., these different properties were combined under a single owner and transformed into an elegant pagan house characterized by finely-decorated rooms. It would be a shame to miss this unique experience while you are in a city like Rome! The evening begins with a very interesting guided walking tour, of about 35 minutes, in the archaeological site (450 square meters of frescoed rooms with mosaic floors). During the tour “Synaulia” and “Mimo”, actors interpreting two ancient roman characters, will accompany you wearing masks and entertaining you with their salacious spirit. The rooms will be set up just like in ancient Rome used to do and then, tables will be prepared so that you will be able to taste some typical Roman dishes with plates and cutlery (reproductions) used at the time of ancient Romans.
You just have to enjoy this extraordinary journey through time!
